Pianist/Composer Adam Sherkin presents a dazzling program of piano works inspired by the nature of water. Oceans, lakes, rivers and waves, rituals in the rain and dreams in the sea; each offer points of departure for vivid music by John Adams, Bertrand Dubedout, Claude Debussy, Philippe Leroux, Gabriel Faure and Adam Sherkin. The musical narrative is integrated with large, on-stage paintings by Gail Williams and poetry, recited by Andrea Runge.
China Gates by John Adams; Preludes: X. La Cathédrale engloutie, XI. La Danse de Puck by Debussy; Dense...Englouti (2012) by Philippe Leroux; Vrishti (2009) by Bertrand Dubedout; Barcarolle (from Suite Napoli) by Poulenc; Barcarolle No.9 in a minor, op.101 by Fauré; Daycurrents (2009) by Adam Sherkin; Jardins sous la pluie by Debussy (from Estampes) and Phrygian Gates (1977) by John Adams.
